Thread: New-ish top is on...question

    Default New-ish top is on...question

First off...a big hats off to Black Roadster for providing the top & helping with the install

Ok, now the question...how do I fix this...

The vinyl seems to be wrinkled & shrunk a little, it dosent completely cover the seals, or the plastic that holds the seals.

Is there anything I can do about this?? Or do I just leave it.

There are cables, one on each side, that go through the top and connect the header to the back piece... they screw in on the front & rivet on back IIRC.

Make sure those are in place or the top won't quite fit right around the windows...

If they are in place then you don't need to worry. If it leaks there then adjust the mounts for the rubber window seals.

It probably needs new tension cables.

You should be able to re-use them. I've never done it, but I think Majik has replaced the cables before.

Glad to have helped. I agree it could be the cables. Never replaced them though so I can't help there.

Yeah I replaced them, you can pull them off the old top if you have to. They are rivited at the top, and screwed in at the bottom on a 99, no idea on an M1 top. You have to fold the top material back from the header. You also have to take out all of the weather stripping.

CM was right. I pulled the top halfway back & wiggled my finger back there & found the cable was not alligned properly, on both sides. I played with them for a minute & voila...fixed.

    Thanks guys!
