Thread: How many years in a Miata?

Default How many years in a Miata?

Just curious -- The Miata has been on the US market since the summer of 1989 as a 1990 model. In theory, one could have owned a Miata of one sort or another for almost 28 years now. I missed out on several of those years because life does that sometimes. However, I got my first '92 Sunburst in 1995, my second in 2000, and a Vivid in 2009. Even when I didn't have one, I've been plugged in to the Miata community. Overall, I've owned one Miata or another over a total of 16 years now and I don't plan to be without one any time soon.

How about you? How many years have you been a Miata owner?

To clarify, I'm not asking how many Miata-years you've stacked up. No fair saying, "I'm Mad Merv and I have had 18 Miatas for 3 years so that's 54 Miata years." I'm just asking how long you've been in the game.

Got my first in 1999 and have had at least one ever since.

I'm not sure if that is good or not.

I got my first and only in 2006 and I still have it. So, eleven years of Miata ownership.

If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Bought my first one in 2001 (1992 A-package), after I gave up motorcycles. Have had one ever since, except for a few short lapses.

My dad got his first one in 94', he still has "Baby". I drove it as often as I could.

I got mine in Sept. '99. I still have it.

Started driving my dad's 1991 Smurf in 2007, bought it from him in 2012. Sold that one in 2014, spent a sad year without a Miata and bought my 97M in 2015. Only about 5 Miata years for me, but I don't plan on getting rid of my 97M.

Bought my 1990 in 1999 (within the week), so 18 years. (Side note: car was born on 4/89, so almost 28!)
