Thread: Annual Tech

    Default Annual Tech

I am planning to go get my car teched on the 25th, at Vorshlag.

Will this be a more rigorous inspection that the normal race day inspection?

    What should I expect/prepare for?

It's typically the same inspection, maybe done just a little slower since there isn't much of a waiting line.

Yep they will look at it maybe a touch closer.

This is last years stuff to give you an idea of what they will be looking at - http://texasscca.org/images/document...ch_Program.pdf

Would imagine they will be posting the 2017 stuff shortly!

^Don't forget to bring your helmet and autocross numbers/letters for your car.

Thanks guys. I knew about the helmet, but I hadn't thought about the numbers/letters.

If you'll be competing in multiple cars, you just present them all?

If you later make a significant change to a car that wasn't there for the annual tech (e.g., you add a roll bar), do you need to have it teched again?

The checklist says "Face protection/full face shield present for all open cars". Does that include Miatas without a permanently installed hard top, i.e., most Miatas and other convertibles? Does the windshield satisfy that requirement?

I think that open means no windshield, ie: formula car.

Yes, if you want annual tech. When I take my ZX2 for one event a year, I just go to tech at that event.

I meet the eligibility requirements for annual tech, but I'm not listed in the names at the bottom of that document.

    Who is eligible?
•To be eligible for Annual Techfor the 2017season, you must have previously participated in a minimum of five (5) Texas Region SCCA Solo events –a list of those eligible is appended below.

I attended all but one SCCA Solo event. I missed the one in May of last year (but attended the CENLA event in Louisiana on that same weekend). I'm going to just show up anyway and see if they'll let me do it.

I'm quite sure they will. You were likely an accidental omission.

Umm so why are you telling us? We don't care.

Maybe Drop Mr. Neff a note since he is the all powerful overlord of Annual Tech.

I'm waiting for the one at Southlake, much closer to home.
