Changed out the bearings last night.

Noticed the rear bearing on both wheels showed signs of wear on the races. The other thing that was surprising was how nasty the grease was, looks like the dust seals were not doing much of a job keeping stuff from getting into the rear bearings!

If you haven't re-packed your trailer bearings in a while now may be a good time to do it!

    Rather than start a new thread . . .

is there any way to get the seals off the back of the hub without damaging them? IIRC they came installed, and have never been out of the hubs.

I recommend "carefully", as the best method.

Actually I got them out using a brass bar and a lot of patience, but you might want to consider replacing them since your trailer has more miles on it than most in this group.

    Default Yikes!

I bought my trailer back in 1998. Guess I'd better check the bearings, too, ya think?

Well nice of them to finally add the bearing to the catalog......

They add the dust seal also??

Would have been nice to have had this when I was looking in January!

I also looked for a US supplier of HRB Bearings with no luck.

Sorry... no seals... I was looking at the trailers, and when you pull up the trailer, it lists the bearings at the bottom of the page under relate items.

Failure of the crappy Chinese dust seal is what killed my original set of bearings...... (But I'm not bitter )

Is the dust seal and the dust cap the same thing? It lists this cap under one of the other trailers with 8" wheels.

Interesting... the bearing says that it works with "Foldable 48" x 96" Utility Trailers or 40" x 49" Mini Utility Trailer" but the Cap only lists the larger trailer.

Hubs could be machined different. More than likely a good plan to measure what ya got before ya order.

Well, for $2.99, I would order one at the same time as the bearings and give it a try. Not that I have any need for any of it, as I don't have a trailer. Or even a need for a trailer.
