Thread: Oh what to do?

    Default Oh what to do?

I'm hoping to get under the car this weekend and take a good look at everything, and replace my engine mounts. I also need to look hard at my cooling system as I'm getting some overheating issues in stop and go traffic with the A/C running. I don't thing I'm getting enough air through the radiator. May need to get some HiFlow fans . I hate to put more money in it, as I'm thinking about replacing the car with a '93 model, move all the go-fast parts to the new car, then sell this one.

I don't feel the same way about this car. The signs of the accident are minor, but I see them everytime I get in the car. And it is so buzzy it's driving me nuts.

So, What should I look for in a '93? Didn't they may an M model that year? Keep your eyes open for me a clean, low mile, never been wrecked '93. I guess I'm a real CHEEP Bastard

No "M" model in '93, but they did make the black 'n' red interior '93LE. Good luck finding a Cheap Bastard deal on one of those, however.

However, since there really is no significant chassis difference between yours and a '93, why upgrade? I'm kind of in the same boat - my '99 Sport has been hit twice, has a few more rattles than the average higher mileage '99, and doesn't ride quite as nicely. On the flip side even though I own it outright I'd have to spend more than I'd get for it to "upgrade" to a clean, lower-mileage, undamaged '99. I'd then also have to transfer all of the parts I've accumulated (like the rollbar), and mine isn't nearly as modified as yours. What I'd end up with would be a mildly more comfortable and quieter Miata that didn't actually go any faster which cost me a whole lot more money. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

This was on ebay and ended last night. I was seriously thinking about putting a bid on this one (black and red with sport suspension, 21k miles!), even though it was about 1000 miles away in northern Iowa. I contacted the seller and asked add'l questions about ever being repainted or repaired (it was in spots), otherwise I might have ended up with it.

My 92 silver with hardtop and 42k miles would have been up for sale...

I will keep an eye out for a suitable 93 for you...

Iain, it's depressing to think about moving the turbo, and it's accessories over to a new car, the the real kicker is doing another clutch job. I just don't look forward to dropping two trannies, just to swap the clutches. Then again, I don't really want to spend the money on another ACT clutch for a new car.

I haven't decided what to do, but I'm going to keep my eyes open for the right deal.

Big D, That car looked great. I've not seen a 93LE before. Do they always go for so much $$$
