Thread: The verdict is in Part 2

Default The verdict is in Part 2

Just got off the phone with John.
He and Gary found that the rings are bad, stuck, etc. carbon buildup in exhast port etc etc.
So I will be another two weeks waiting for the bottom end to be rebuilt.
Needless to say it's a sad day at the Blaze household.

yeah it's something to do with a reverse flow in the mainstream hot air exchanger.

The problem seems to be spreading to other "parts" of the car...I just heard the valve cover is effected.

Hmmm.... very interesting. It is very possible that this has more to do with the loose nut behind the wheel than the mainstream hot air exchanger.

Gary says it looks as if my engine has been opened before there were sanding marks on the block where the head gasket goes.
The timing marks looks like they were both off from the begining, he says it caused a bunch of buildup in my intake enough to restrict airflow by around 40%...he says its the worst he has seen in a car.
Gary thinks since my oil consumption is up the oil has been bypassing the rings and running back into the intake through vacumn building a dam.
    Also the rings feel rigid.

With all that is wrong, I am sure this car will feel a lot different when I get it back.
The sucky part is when I do get it back I am sure I will notice more power and torque but will have to take it easy til the break in period is done....lol

I will ask but I doubt he has time to go back over there, he has really went above and beyond already by making several trips over there and keeping a close eye on the work.
Gary has won me as a customer for life, I tell you it just doesn't get any better when it comes to customer service where TDR is concerned.

    new update.
John said that it looked like the head had been off the car before and it looks like it may have been an overheating issue and water had gotten in places it shouldn't have....that being said he has new pistons on order the old ones are pitted.
He says if the car isn't ready by this weekend he will deliver it to me Tues. or Wed.

My Supercharger money has flown out the window for sure.

Not a lot I can do about it though, the car has to run and be able to accept the power of boost without breaking in half...lol
