I cut the bottom of my wheels so they would fit in my fenders and now they don't work so good neither.

Never cut the part, just hammer it in to fit.

I would have suggested greasing it up before trying to insert it...

I tried this myself. I cut the *^%@# thing off twice, and it was still too short.
