Thread: Caliper Paint

    Default Caliper Paint

I've been thinking of painting my stock calipers for some time now, but I'm concerned with heat related brake fade. How much would the paint inhibit the metal in the calipers to dissipate heat? Has anyone else done a track day after painting their calipers?

I don't really think it's going to make that much f a difference...

Many many cars come with them painted factory (Porsche, Z06 etc)

Not really an issue I've heard of.. Although theoretically possible?

Just use a high temp caliper paint... available just about any auto parts place.

I had the calipers painted on my VW... the most important lesson learned is don't scimp on the prep work... clean and clean and clean again!

Yah, I wouldn't worry about it. If you were running a non-stock caliper and some weird disk that generated a TON of heat, it might be an issue. But on a little miata with stock brakes, no big dea.

Sorry to dig this one up, but what is the best cleaner to use on the calipers? Also, how would red caliper paint look on a silver/tan?
