    Default Texarkana Autocross

Texarkana will be running on Saturday Dec. 2nd only. Not on the 3rd.

    http://www.txkautox.com/index.htm

    Tech ends at 9:45ish.

    Any interest?

I am not confirming, but I am interested. It is tempting to do apply for the Open Class, too, in order to maximize the value of the trip.

I am guessing it will be 2.5 to 3 hours to get there. Would we leave the day before and spend two nights or leave early Saturday and spend one night?

At Texarkana, you could pay extra to run X class, and not have a work assignment at all. I guess they are still doing that.

*edit* I just checked the web site, they call it OPEN class and they do still have it.

It's 190 miles from PGBTW and the Dallas Tollway. I suspect you folks in FW are looking at 3.5 hours or more.

I'm very interested in this. Google Maps sez it's only about 70 miles further from my house than Mineral Wells. I'd probably just bomb out very early Saturday moring, run X class, and head back when the event was over.

Sounds like you can also sign up to run both your regular class and open class, thereby getting 12 runs for the day. Might be worth it, considering the drive.

What's the surface like? Anyone run there?

I have. 3 times last year and twice this year. They run on the tarmac at the Regional Airport. The surface is a sealed asphalt. I have only run on street tires there. I think it's a medium grip and very smooth. Robert J, Jay M, Rick G and Gerry T have all run there in the last year or so.

Looks like I'm going to have to skip this. I'm going to Cozumel later in December, so this will just be too close and I need to save my money for Cozumel. Man, I know I'm going to be jonesing for racing, too. Dang.

Shoulda told me. You could have talked to Peter Fehn last Sunday. A bunch of AXers were going to Cozumel regularly and even had AX on the beach. I don't know any of the details, but they were all running ETOH class.

    Bump.

My schedule cleared for Saturday and I've got spousal approval, so unless the weather looks miserable on Saturday (stay home, titus! ), I'm going to this event. cone-cerned, do I sign up when I get there, or is there an online link that I missed?

    Anyone else going?

Is that English? Are you trying to suggest that you'd like to co-drive? I'm planning on leaving about 5am. Roughly 180 miles from my place, which ought to put me on site somewhere between 7:30-8am.

If there were cool people going, would you be welcome?

As for Spokes, they're far enough away to make it an overnighter for me. Sadly, Texarkana ain't too much further from the new place than Mineral Wells. On the plus side, that puts it close enough to call a day trip.

Besides, I've already got clearance from the better half for this one.

I'm out. Things other than the weather have come up that need my attention.

    Wait till next year.
