    10w30 and I'll use OEM, Wix or Purolator. Never use Fram!

    I've had really good luck with Westco batteries. Other options are the Autozone one and Optima batteries. You want to use a Glass Matte type battery, not lead acid. Avoid the Mazda battery as they are not as good anymore.

    Thank you sir! I was afraid many of the newbies wouldn't get it, but I didn't have a copy of the pic. I do now.

    Yes we do, I think it's in the by-laws.

    Mobil 1 0w-40, Mobil 1 filter, Mobil 1 in the transmission and diff, Westco battery.

    Thanks again.

    To answer your questions:

    • Treibenschnell is German for "my car is in boxes". Most of us can't pronounce German, let alone spell it properly, so we "Americanized" it to 3 Bean Salad, also written as 3Bean, Bean, Beano, and "Hey you! When ya gonna put your car back together?"
    • I think Mazda recommends 10w30 oil. I used a higher hot weight oil in mine (usually 0w40), because my car saw a lot of autocross use, but I'd recommend 10w30 unless you plan to spend a lot of time at the track. I would also recommend using a good quality synthetic oil.
    • I used Mobil 1 filters. You can use the recommended size for a '97-'03 Honda Prelude (can't remember the p/n off the top of my head, but your local Autozone can tell you) if you want a slightly larger capacity filter than OEM.
    • The OEM battery is a quality gel cell unit. It is small, compact, reasonably light, and should last for a lot longer than a typical car battery.

    Hope that helps!

    [Drift ON]

    Remember the line - "Hey, there's a piece of the suspension on the track... it came off of that ugly blue car!"

    [/Drift OFF]

    Damnit... I can't remember who it was that retrieved that piece of pipe!

    Well, "schnell" does mean fast. However, "treiben" has nothing to do with driving a car. It's the "drive" you associate with the phrase "cattle drive"--to herd something. What you are wanting as your German equivalent of "driving fast" is "schnellfahren."
    Furthermore, "schnell fahren" can be translated as "driving fast." Schnellfahren (one word) is the act of driving fast.

    For fun, I plugged them all into Babel Fish:

    Treiben = Float
    Schnell = Fast
    fahren = drive
    Schnellfahren = High-speeddrive
    Schnell fahren = Fast drive
    Treibenschnell = drive-fast
    Treiben schnell = Float fast

    I still think Bean's screen name should have been "mein Auto ist in den Kästen".
