Where is a good place to buy helmets? Is there anyplace local because i'd like to try a few on before i really spend that kind of money.

You could try a local motorcycle shop. Just make sure it meets the approval standards for the local clubs. (the SNELL rating)

Hey andrew, Gary at trackdogracing knows of a shop right by Texas Instruments that sells Simpson gear. When he comes back from vacation, I'll ask him about it for you.

Check the online prices. They are usually really good.

Moto Liberty is a great place for bike gear and such. Great selection of helmets and a staff that's helpful and knows what they're doing. If you're looking to try 'em on before buying, I'd go there. Thats where I bought my last two helmets.

I checked w/ the place by Texas Instruments last year when looking for mine. They didn't have them there but could order you one. I wanted to touch, feel, smell, and even try it on before buying too. I went to Motor Sports Ranch at Performance Something? at the back right by the Main Building. They had all kinds, not cheap, but anything you might be looking for.

I have no personal experience with the place but you might try:

    Smiley's Racing Products
    700 W Kennedale Pkwy.
    Kennedale, TX 76060
    817.572.7467

They are located on Mansfield Highway just south of I-20. They are on the left side of the street as you head south. They may have some that you can look, touch, try on.

Once again I have no personal experience with them but they maybe an option.
