Default Trunk Leaks with NB Top Swap

Just an FYI for anyone installing a NB top on a NA.

The top of the rain rail needs to be tucked UNDER the beltline molding.

When I installed my NB top I neglected to do this and the bad storms we had last week left me with a soggy trunk.

    I fixed it today though.

Here is a write up and a picture.

Cool, thanks for the tip. I should be putting one in this month from an 01.

Still had some moisture in the trunk again but not as bad. The trunk seal looks good and the rain rail should be fine as it is the better quality rubber one off of a 2003.

Pointy Board suggest it may be my tail lamp gaskets. They were kind of brittle when I installed my Euro Tails. Guess I'll change them out next unless someone else has another idea.

Did you check your drain holes (outside of the seatbelt towers) ? They tend to collect crap and get clogged.

Good point and yes I did. Took a stretched out coat hanger and it went all the way through. Even tested it by dumping water below the rear window and it drained properly.

I'm thinking the tail light gaskets also because some water collected where my jack is stored.
