    Default Hiya

So I had posted in the classified section looking for a '97 miata. Well, I've just signed over a check for a red '94 with 54K on it. I guess I can officially be a part of the DFW Miata group now, right?

I do have a few questions:

First, the car desperately needs detailing. I have a friend who said his shop could do a full detail including painting the rims for $110. He also said the shop next to his can put on a new top for about $500-550 (parts and labor). Are these good prices, is there somewhere else anyone would recommend? In addition, the driver's side window needs to be put back on track or something like that, who would I need to take the car to to get this taken care of?

    Welcome to the fun

110 for a complete detail is about average for wax engine ect.

500-550 for a top after install is also good, just make sure you get a top that you like.

As for the window you should be able to do that fairly easily. Anyone here would be more than happy to give you hand with that whenever you can come to a meet or tech day.
    Blah blah blah!

That would be about what I paid for a top + install about 3 years ago for my 92 B&T. It's a good price.

I got the top from the folks at http://www.cabrioworld.com

It was the OEM style with the zippered rear window.

Thanks for the advise. I think I will just hand the vehicle straight to my friend so he can take care of it all for me (he's a previous Miata owner).

I'm off to browse the site to see what you guys are up to. The only thing I've checked out so far is the forum.

I'm so upset! Back when I had my 97, I bought the "happy car" grille inserts (you can see it here http://www.auto-expressions.com/scrapb.htm ) It seems the company is selling off all its stock and I'm just really sad that I won't be able to have a happy Miata again. I wish I had the know how (and tools) to fashion a set for myself.

The business is for sale. I wonder how much he wants for it? It was a unique product. Sad to see that he's selling the business. Maybe someone will snag it up and bring them back. I had a set on my last Miata.

Those are cute. If you are going that route around here, you might want to do 2 things:

    1. Talk to Officer Dingle about harassment on the forum - he gets it about as often as anybody except BR and I wouldn't recommend talking to BR until you've read his posts
    2. Read the Alligator Hide link listed below.

Maybe you ought to read the Alligator Hide Link first.

It's a good car, this is a good forum, but we throw the flag a lot. Enjoy!

Also someone should talk him into a weekend at MSR this June 23. There are still spots open.
