Thread: Hernia Surgery Monday 8/6

    Unhappy Hernia Surgery Monday 8/6

I turned 50 and my body fell apart for the second time. (The first time was when I turned 40.)

I’m having surgery to repair an inguinal hernia Monday 8/6 at 8:30. I’ll be out of work no more than 4 weeks, but I’ve got 4 weeks approved just in case. It hurts like when I cough and I’ve had it for quite a while I think. The good news is with my back surgery in February, I’ve reached maximum out-of-pocket expense for this year, so everything is covered by insurance at 100%.

I may be out of touch for a few days. It all depends how bad it hurts to sit and type. (I hope I can still drive!)

Four weeks tops is what I was told. I don't expect to be out that long! It depends on the extent of the surgery and how well my body bounces back.

Good luck with the operation. Make sure you do the rehab. I had my second hernia when i was 22 or 23 because I dind't think I needed the rehab. Even though I didn't do anything strenuous for nearly a year (working out lifting ect.) I still blew it back out. And its worse the second time around.
