Thread: crappy top

    Question crappy top

    ok so i am zipping up my window in my top last night half asleep and when i came out this morning i noticed that the stiching has come out almost all the way along the top to the zipper that is attached to the top (not the window) is this common, is it something i can just sew back up? am i gonna leak now

    Mine has done the same thing in a strip about 6" long, but it doesn't leak there. As for saving up and getting a nicer Miata... I wouldn't put a whole lot of money into the one you've got now - your money would be better spent on one that's a little more intact, IMHO...

    im keeping this one so as the $$$ comes in this one will be getting upgraded considerably i know it is kind of a beater now but when i get done it will be a pretty sweet ride

    The thing that would scare me about yours is the sketchy body work...

    You might want to take it somewhere and have a good body/frame guy look at it. Maybe a good alignment shop... just a thought, before you start pouring $$$ into it.

    for what i paid for it i knew there were going to be a few issues. i took it to a dealership and had it looked over as if i was gonna trade it in and they made no mention of any frame damage course i couldnt afford another car payment with the shotty paint work they said they would give me 600 on it as a trade which isnt much below what fair condition in the book shows for trade in

    didnt you say you only paid $500 for that? after a top that is still a really good price, and it will have a new top!

    I have a friend with a 91 Miata with a zipper that ripped right along the line where it was sewn to the top. Hers has been like that for over a year, and hasn't had much rain get in. Then again, she lives in the Mojave Desert.

    well the maybe is a definite yes .. it does leak and pretty bad i might add, had to wrap my seats in trashbags to get to work today ...
