Cars in that area of arlington are usually too good to be true. I drove a supercharged NA that was for sale for $3k one time and it was a complete junker.

The dealerships in that part of town are really sketchy.

    It's because it's an 01 and not a 99.....

I won't buy anything from those places in Arlington! Years ago I test drove an Escort and it barely moved even with the gas paddle all the way to the floor!

On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Actually the Ford Escort was a great rally car platform for many years, during the 1970's through the 1990's. Europe also got the Cosworth version that was anything but slow.

Yeah. I know all about the cool Escorts in Europe. Unfortunately all we got were mostly garden variety boring commuters. (cone-cerned's rare ZX2 model being an exception of course.)

The 90-94 Escort GT as well as the 90-94 Protege LX had a DOHC 1.8 was the same motor basically although in a FWD configuration . The entry level Escort had a Ford made SOHC 1.9 while the Protege DX had a SOHC 1.6 from what I recall.

I also had an escort zx2 like Doug and it wasn't as slow as a miata thats for sure. low 15's stock. I had a 99 and an 03(nicer front bumper) I'm with Thomas on the dealers out there are all sketchy. I tried to get a Mustang GT(hole in the front and rear bumpers, needed paint, 100k miles) out there that cost 13k but somehow with good credit and a 2000dollar down payment my payments were 400a month. I got an immaculate GT(17k miles, flawless paint etc) out in Richardson for 19k same everything for 390 a month.

I had a 90 Protege GT back in the day. Just a 4 door version of the Escort GT. Strong engine, big brakes, 5 spd only.
