Thread: PCA Autocross #1, 3/30/08, Birdville ISD Stadium

Default PCA Autocross #1, 3/30/08, Birdville ISD Stadium

The Maverick Region of the Porsche Club of America is having their first autocross of the season. It will be at Birdville ISD Stadium. According to the site, it is the stadium on the corner of Mid Cities Blvd and Precinct Line in NRH.

    Who wants to join me?

    More info at http://mav.pca.org/Events/AX.asp.

It looks like they lowered their price for non-members. It is now just $5 more, so it is $25 member/$30 non-member. Last season, they did five runs. I do not know what the plan is this season. They have a new AX chairman, so we'll see if there are many changes. I thought the last guy did a good job.

    Just an FYI...

I used to live just down the road from Birdville ISD. Their biggest lot is about the size of the south lot (not the main lot) at Pennington, and it has obstacles.

I like the PCA guys. They put on a good show. But I drove by that lot daily for seven years and it never struck me as a good lot for an autocross.

    Do they chalk their lines?

I never considered it to be a good venue, either, but I figure I will give it a try.

I may try this one. The next ER/SCCA events aren't until the end of the month!

My car exceeds my driving ability. That's the only possible explanation.

If you don't, there is another PCA AX the following Sunday at Pennington.

I will be there sunday! Sounds like a perfect course for Miata's to be FTD!!!
I learned this the hard way.....

Take all of your valuables out of your car at night. This includes taking the mounting hardware off of your windshield or dash and hiding the power supplies. I lost over $ 1,000 to a thief with no hope of recovering my items and to top if off they smashed my window in the rain and my truck got soaked. Let my loss be your learning experience.

I knew that was one of your buttons

But seriously... I even get confused in my own head when I try to imagine a course without the lines (big surprise there)

Evolution school teaches how to read a course without walking it. And if you are seeing a course in your head with lines then you're just seeing the course and not the line.

There are a small # of key cones and angles of attack needed to get through an autocross. All you do in between is take the shortest distance possible to put the car along the proper angle of attack and speed.

I just drove past this stadium today and it does look pretty small and full of a lot of light poles. Makes pennington look like the bus lot.

I think there is a discount for pre-registration, so sing up now if you plan to attend.

Is anyone going that wants to meet for breakfast?

Yes, you can pay at the site. Where shall we dine? I'm not too keen on the Whataturd idea.

A Quilt Show?!?! Geez, I'd rather chew broken glass. But, I guess the pay-off is big...

Couldn't you have volunteered to stay home and clean out the sewer lines or something? Sounds more appealing to me.
