Thread: Dyno run with the Borla

  1. #1

Default Dyno run with the Borla

I ran my car last weekend before the Borla (absolutely bone-stock), and it pulled 103.1 hp/99.5 lb-ft. It was 78 degrees with 65% humidity.

Ran it today and it pulled 108.2 hp/104.1 lb-ft. It was 88 degrees with 53% humidity. So the butt dyno was right - this thing is making a little more power! Here's a couple of runs... with a better representation of the sound.

What does jotech charge for dyno time?

Not sure what their hourly rate is, but they have a deal where they'll give you three pulls for $75. That amounts to 30-45 min, and I could've been tinkering under the hood between runs (especially first thing Saturday morning before the place gets busy).

Next time, drive slightly farther northeast and go to L.G. Motorsports in Wylie. 3 pulls on a dynojet for $60. Just mention that you saw the deal on ricekiller.com and they'll drop the price to $50. They honored it for me earlier this week and I've never even been on ricekiller.

Cool... I'll hit up LG next time. Thanks for the tip!

It's best to stick with one dyno when you're trying to see what/if any changes you have. Unless you plan on getting a baseline dyno at the new place before you add more mods. In which case you've just paid for 2 dyno sessions...

I agree with Adam, there can be a substantial difference from dyno to dyno. Especially when you are looking at small gains ie. <10%.

Good point... didn't think of that, but it does make sense. I like the guys over at Jotech so far anyhow. I'll post if any deals come up...

Next dyno should be after I score a high-flow cat - should be before Hallett (ordered it about 5 minutes ago). Will post with results.

Nice power increase. The car sounds a lot better with the exhaust, it sounded raspy with the stock for some reason.

If he does another baseline at the new place before is next mod, he will have payed $25 more to see the affect of that mod ($50 + $50 vs $75), but he will get that money back when testing the mod after that ($50 vs $75). Testing of Mod 3 and beyond would benefit from the savings. Unless of course the Wylie place raises their rate or goes belly up.
