Thread: I'm doing a 60k service on my car.

  1. #1

Default I'm doing a 60k service on my car.

I thought some of you who have never seen one done might want to swing by and watch it done. I'm ordering the parts this week. I may do it this weekend or next weekend.

Chime in if your are interested in stopping by or helping.

    BTW,

I'm doing it all. New timing belt, water pump, idler pulleys, belts, hoses, oil seals etc... The car has 176k and this will be it's second timing belt.

I would be interested depending on when. I have to work on Saturday (maybee) but Sunday would be fun. I can lend a wrench, I mean hand if needed.

I need to make my list and head to Town North. It will depend on when they get everything in.

Check out the prices at Mazda South. They ate in Austin and as cheap as Trussville, but should be able to ship them FED EX ground and be a next day delivery.

I have to do this, my idler pulley is making noise. I have my ebay timing belt/water pump kit in hand, but I need a few more parts that I was going to order. It has only been 130K since the timing belt was changed! Please let me know when you are doing the tech day.

If you end up doing this on Saturday, I can pop in and show you how to NOT install the lower pump gasket. :) I'm out for Sunday because of a work trip, though...

I need to do the same to my 91 that I just got a couple of months ago so I'd love to see how it's done first. Just let me know when and where.

OK. I finally figured out where I'm ordering my stuff (Rosenthal) and I will place the order tomorrow.

In all likely hood I will not have the parts by this weekend so I will start on it Saturday August 30th. I figure I'll start around 9am-10am. This is Labor Day weekend which may hinder some folks but that's the weekend that works for me. I don't plan on rushing it and the three day weekend will assure I can take my time.

I will PM the folks who said they are interested in showing up my address and phone number.

To give an overall idea, I live in McKinney near the 75 and 380 interchange.

Here is the long list of things I will be doing.

    Valve cover gasket
    Accessory belts
    All coolant hoses
    Timing belt
    Thermostat
    Water pump
    Tensioner and idler pulleys
    CAS o-ring
    Cam and crank seals

Given time I may also do a brake fluid flush and new pads and rotors.
Given even more time I may also install my power plant frame brace and my FM butterfly brace.
    ...and across the line.

Keifersmith and hansel, I can't send you a PM as you seem to have opted out of receiving them.

Send me an email and I'll give you directions.

Room, yes. (two-car garage) Might be a bit tight though. I have lots of crap in my garage!

Time, depends on how many helping hands we get. Since you have a 1.6 it would be interesting to note the differences.

Sorry, William. I'll still be in AZ on the 30th. I'll give you a yell once I get back to town to see if, by some chance, you're still working on stuff.
