    Default Brake Rotor Suggestions

The front rotors are finally tossed (warped) at over 120+K miles. Should I go with OEM, Brembo (regular and not the slotted at $80/pair shipped from Tire Rack) or somthing else like the "big break kit"? My car is not boosted and I do AX (not care to stay in stock class) and some track days. I am happy with the OEM rotors and Axxis Ultimate pads.

Also, are there any "while you at it" type of jobs that I have to do while changing the rotors?

    Thanks,
    Gab

Standard rotors are fine. We've never had any problems on the SM's. Slotted rotors really do nothing for you on the street, except for scraping off material from the pads. Unless you're using wide tires with tons of grip, big brakes are a waste. These are MOMENTUM cars, which translates into "use less brakes".

Good reading about brakes, breaking in, and the Warped rotor

    Go with some NAPA rotors:

Link is for NA6 front rotors.

Paint the rotor hats with high temp silver paint, that will keep them from developing the ugly rust. You can also brush paint the calipers. Doing both doesn't take much longer and looks great.

It's also a good time to re-grease the slider pins prior to assembly.

+1 for Napa. Ran them on the track with Hawk Blues and no issues.

+1 That's what I did this time around and they look much better. 3 coats of high heat silver on the rotor hats and flat black calipers.

sportbrakes.com doesn't have Miata as a clickable model.
