Thread: DIY e-brake boot!

  1. #1

    Default DIY e-brake boot!

Inspired by sxk122, I made the trek to the fabric store and picked up some nice vinyl to play with. My mom let me borrow her ancient sewing machine (seriously, it's like a 1940 model), showed me how to work it, and I went to town...

After some trial and error, I finally pulled off the French seam and made a boot that fits quite nicely!

And, yes, that's a new IL Motorsport e-brake handle. Long story on that - they were on sale at Moss, but they sent me the wrong part (it must be for an NC). I made it fit, but they felt bad and gave me a further discount on the thing in the form of store credit. Good times!

    Next project... shift boot...

    Looks very nice, congrats

The shift boot should be too much harder, 2 more seams than the e-brake boot.

Luckily, I've got a "surplus" eff-up that I used as a pattern for the good one. I think I've got the method down, so if somebody seriously wants one, I might be able to catch that lightning in a bottle again. Cross yer fingers.

I'll be at the Wed Nite GTG if anybody wants to take a good look...
