Thread: CHL class recommendation?

  1. #1

    Default CHL class recommendation?

    OK...

I picked up a new toy and it's high time for me to get off my rump and get my CHL.

It's a Taurus PT 24/7 OSS DS extended lenth slide in .40s&w caliber. (Except the one I have is all black...)

Do any of you have a class that you'd recommend? (I'll also be asking my gunsmithing friend)...

Oh, and does anyone want to join me in a CHL class?

There's no better time like the present... No idea if there are slots in the class coming up this weekend...

Tell him Joel sent you... he'll probably raise the price

I went to DFW Gun Range to get mine. The class was pretty good... I enjoyed it.

I just picked up a new carry gun, BTW. Beretta 96D in .40S&W

If it's on the fort worth side and I don't have a conflict I'd be interested.

I first joined the Dallas Pistol Club (it was the DP&RC then) in 1989 and was a Director in '90 and '91. I ran the PPC and Tactical matches at that time. I cannot overstate what a great club this is and highly recommend taking your CHL classes there. It is a full facility club and strongly supports all the shooting sports. It is an NRA club and non profit, not a fly by night outfit looking to get rich.

Yeah... what Creek said, but I've only been a member a few years. Onething and Dave04 have seen the facility and can attest that we're damn lucky to have such a thing in the middle of the city.

PCTA for classes on the west side

    Tell Jan I said Hi!

Watched her qualify some folks a few months ago and knew I'd go to her for requal. Then I sat through her class with my bride. She is safe, practical, and very knowledgeable.

I went to Academy for Firearms Training in Grand Prairie. For $139 it's an all inclusive price. Finger prints, passport photos, notery service, range time with their guns and ammo, and they even assemble your application to make sure everything is there and ready to mail. All you have to do is show up with your money.

It's a long day for sure. But certainly worth it.

I believe Texas is going to vote next month on an open carry law, which would make a CHL useless...

I guess I'll have to wait until they pass the right to carry openly law.

http://www.OnTargetFirearms.com out on Hwy 377 as you go out to MSR. 817-443-1488

Took the class 2 weeks ago. EXCELLENT instructor.

All inclusive - $99. Includes ammo, notary, forms, everything except mailing it to the state for you.

My class was full......they said it's been that way every since the election.....go figure.

Estimate to get license back from the state is 120 days.
