Default TDR @ MSR Miata Track Event May 22, 2009

The Miata World (MW) event at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) is May 22-24 with infield track and autocrossing on Saturday and Sunday. I think there will be a lot of people that will be coming to DFW for the event that might be interested in participating in a track day at MSR on Friday of that weekend. Checking the MW schedule for Friday shows nothing track related going on.

Last year we could not fill the 80 entrances we needed so with the MW group I think we could meet our requirements. Also like last year we would double up with Apex Driving School to handle the track and class room instructing. If you came last year to our TDR event or have driven at an Apex School you know how well organized an Apex School is.

We have reserved the 1.7 mile track for this date, but looking for feedback from you before we commit 100% and post to the other forums. Cost would be around $200 and there will be 4 run groups.

If you would be interested in participating and if you have in comments or suggestions lets talk about it.

    Thanks,

    Gary

Like always, I'm interested. I should be able to scrape together a deposit to help hold my spot if needed.
Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).

i'm in, think friends with otm should be aloud so you get more people you know before you open to random public registration. I loved chasing a evo 9 into the turns until he ran out of gas at the 08 event =)

I believe that Bill posted over on Miata.net that the tentative Friday event would not be included in the entry fee.

Yes roll bars are required for classes above Novice I believe. Ken, am I correct on this with Apex?

Well, I'm guessing since it'll be my first run at MSR I'll be in novice but I have roll bars anyway. I was just thinking about Carazzie's car and I know there's lotsa others (going to Miata World II) that don't have bars and would probably be interested.

I am in. As with Ken and Iain, I will be there to instruct! I try to learn as much from Ken and Iain as I can before that date...
