Thread: Passenger side window???

  1. #1

    Question Passenger side window???

Neighbor across the street from the Palatial POS Palace picked up a '91 for his daughter on Sunday.

He found it on Craigslist and we later determined it wasn't actually turbo but an aftermarket cruise control that the last owner had installed.

The manually operated passenger side window will only roll down about 3 inches then it hangs up, I know this is normally that plastic clip coming unlatched from the door and getting in the way of the window.

What I can't find is a write up on the inter-web on how to fix this problem, figure some of you inter-web geeks may have seen it and can give me a link.

    Thanks!

I think that I had this issue with mine many moons ago, but I cannot remember how I fixed it. It could not have been too hard since I was able to fix it.

I do have the little tool for removing the window crank if you need it.

I don't think you'll be able to get a date with the daughter even if you fix the window

If you pull the door panel, you can get to the cable from the center hole. Just put the cable back into the clip. If it doesn't snap in place, a tie wrap will keep it in place.

+1 That's how I did it on the 1990. The only thing you need to remove the clip from the crank handle is a cloth towel.

Step one - slip the edge of the towel under the crank handle and move it back and forth until it catches on the clip.

Step two - watch the crank handle clip fly across the garage and retrieve it.

    Default Removing crank clip

I used a clip remover and a screwdriver once in a pinch.
I have a plastic milk carton that I cut a flat piece out of, cut a slot in it, and slide it around the handle first between the crank and the panel to stop any tool maring of the door panel.
Worked on the Vette and the Miata both.
