Peterbilt Product and Technology Center Tour

Peterbilt Product and Technology Center Tour - PACCAR recently launched innovative product and technology centers at its Peterbilt, Kenworth and DAF manufacturing facilities. The new Technology Centers include interactive platforms featuring exciting surface technology, product demonstrations and the latest concepts for in-dash and in-cab electronic applications.

Peterbilt has reigned as America's premium quality heavy-duty truck manufacturer since the company's founding in 1939. Peterbilt has maintained its enviable position as the Class of the Industry by concentrating on delivering high-performance, low-maintenance and extremely durable vehicles that pay off in low operating costs, driver productivity and high resale value.

Driven to satisfy the unique needs and job challenges of our customers, Peterbilt custom manufactures each truck to customer specifications. And whether the order calls for a fully-appointed owner/operator truck or a unit spec'd to fleet requirements, each is manufactured to the same critical quality standard.

Last year, the Denton facility won the North Texas Clean Air Coalition 2008 Champions Award for Air Quality. We actively seek ways to improve our community by recycling in the offices and on the plant floor, enforcing and complying with the No-Idle regulations on the premises, and conserving our use of water and electricity. Our employees contribute to our success through sponsored commuting programs, saving 215,000 gallons of fuel and eliminating 210,000 pounds of CO2 annually.

Mar 04 2009 - AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. BEGINS USE OF PETERBILT MODEL 386 HYBRID ELECTRIC

As part of its on-going effort to reduce its global CO2 footprint and fuel consumption, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., became the first company in its industry to introduce a Class 8 hybrid diesel electric truck into its truck fleet at its parts center in Alpharetta, Ga. Built for Honda by Peterbilt Motors Company, the Smartway(SM)-certified* Model 386 hybrid truck is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 45 tons per year, as compared to its diesel counterpart.

NOTE: No cameras (including cell phone cameras) allowed inside the plant. Sturdy, non-canvas shoes should be worn. Rings, watches, etc. should be removed to avoid scratching any products.

That's awesome! Way to go Denton Peterbuilt.

Would it be a good tour for an environmental science class?

Dunno, at least it will be quiet on a Saturday. It's difficult to run large tours thru on a workday. I am not the tour guide; just passing on the information.

I would contact the organizer (Enrri Smith: 940-566-7404) with specific questions like Sharpie's.
