I understand...you have to consider 'all things stock.'....and Sport springs are not legal for you, right? Bummer, those springs help alot.

Wrong Sparky! Shocks are one of the things that may be changed/upgraded and still allow the car to run in Stock class.

You might check my answer again....we agree!
I understand that the shocks are changable, but the SPRINGS are not.

Why don't you just get the whole SPORT assembly and step out of those long SCCA lines. :)

What is the difference in the springs on a '99 Sport vs. '99 Standard?

Was there any difference in spring length?

Some of us still like the SCCA Sparky... although I'm not sure why we do... :P

The spring rate is marginally higher on the Sport springs.

Check my question again. (I want to put Bilsteins on my existing non-sport springs.)

I think so. According to the board, sport springs are indeed shorter.

    I know what you meant.
So can it be done? Probably. Does that help?

    How much shorter?

OK so is the spring perch on the sport shock in a different location than a stock shock?

    ALTIAIN,
were you able to comfirm the opposite of this dicussion?
Will the standard KYB's fit the Sport Springs? This may help answer SAMMMS' question

Keith at FM seems to think there shouldn't be any problems. I ordered a set Friday night, so we'll find out for sure when they get here.

I'll chime in with some feedback from Mazda Motorsports.

When I was asking about the legality of the club sport package, Brian Burrows did say that the regular springs and the bilsteins were not compatible. I did not ask why because I had the hard-s springs.

The regular springs from the 2001 LS are longer than the hard-s springs.
