    Default FS: NA Gauge Hood

    Well,

I'm looking around a what do I spot on top of the freezer in the garage? A spare gauge hood. All tabs are intact but it could use a good cleaning.

    $50 OBO and it's yours!

When you say it needs a good cleaning, does that mean it's all tacky like and needs stripping and repainting?

It's been sitting on the shelf in the dusty garage for a couple of years. Stripping and repainting? Dunno...

I don't believe they were ever painted to begin with. Just black blow molded plastic.

Umm, was thinking of my BRG hood, which apparently was painted black and repeated application of Armorall makes it all sticky and a dust collector.

The hoods out of tan interior cars are different than those out of black interiors. They are 'textured' and get sticky/gummy with age.

I believe the '90 to '93 is slightly different from a '94 to '97. I heard they are not interchangable. I haven't seen this personally, just what I have heard. And yea my 94 B&T has a nasty gooey paint on it that was a mofo to get off.

What year is this one off of? Tan or black interior? I am very mildly interested. I have another one im trying to pick up from a '94, but I might be interested if the sale falls through for some reason.

This is one from a 90-93...

    Part # for 90-93 = NA01-55-420B
    Part # for 94-97 = NA75-55-420B

They look the same in the parts catalog, but the 90-93 has an extra rubber piece, part # NA01-55-182 attached at the bottom front of the hood.

Whether or not they fit interchangeably I do not know.

They are not interchangeable. The 94-97 has a dual airbag dash and the gauge hood and radio surround are different.

That's good to know. I have had a 1990 and now have a 1994 and they do not appear to be the same. The 1990 was just black plastic. The 1994 has some kind of rubber coating on it. It may be my imagination, but I think the 1994 is slightly smaller.

It's a different shape where it meets the dash as the dash changed in 1994.
