Thread: Rubber shifter seal

    Default Rubber shifter seal

Anyone know about how long these things last? I'm talking about the rubber seal that bolts to the floor around the shifter that is usually gone on older cars. There's nothing left of mine.

If they last at least a year it would probably be worth the 27 bucks but if they don't last long at all I'll just make something.

    Does it look like this?

This is the upper shifter boot. There is also a lower shifter boot.

I replaced both on my car right after I bought it about three years ago. They are both still is good shape.

If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Yup that's it. I need to replace the lower one also. It's got a small leak but it's not gone yet. Might as well do it while i'm in there.

    Thanks for the info.

While you're there, suck out what is left of the old fluid, wipe it out and refill.
    ...and across the line.

Save your $12 and put it towards replacing the OEM boots (both of them).
