Good question. Something on car not right for ASP?

Solo RX-7 is sitting in 3rd in STX after Day 1. Less than 4/10ths out of the lead. Way to go, Matt!

Jason Isley in 2nd in his RX-8. Hey Matt - how about some details on Isley's setup?

    I heard Isley bought a 370Z for B-stock, guess he didn't.

Some more pics from today. Some Miata and some local non-Miatas:

    Sharron Scott-Eberlein

Kim Whitener. Something is wrong with the CRX so she bummed a ride in Phil Osborne's. Gerry and David have bummed other rides tomorrow too.

I'll try to get scoop on Isley's car tomorrow.
A Z06 is just like a Miata, but with the other half of the motor . . .

I really thought that my last run would get into the 62s. It sure felt fast. Can I protest that? I am not sure if it's the tires or our driving. Probably the latter. We just need to go faster. I really need to get to an Evo school.

David & Jerry were out on the practice site when we left at dusk trying to sort things out. Today's course (west) was placement and speed maintenance and trusting the car would stick. I had little speed and less trust. Grip is significantly different than practice area which may be due to the sweeper runs every night.

Cone 318 seems to have the family's name on it. Sharon is enjoying her first trip to Nats. Next year she hopes to have it up with the rest as she is learning a lot. Thanks for the pics Mat. It will lift her sagging spirits.

I am happy to report that Brad is walking straight and upright.

That's interesting Steve. I found the test site very similar in grip to the actual course.

    EDIT: P.S. Rain sucks.

I guess 28 out of 46 is nothing to sneeze at, although my allergies in the early part of the week would beg to differ. As for not winning, I would say that poor tire choice was 25%, lesser prepped car was 25%, and the driver was 50%. On the second day with all of the sweepers, I never had that hanging-on-for-dear-life feeling like I had in the sweepers at the Houston Div on a similar surface using the Toyos.

I really need to get to Evo.

Looks like Toyo took 5 of the top 8 spots in STS. I guess those are the R1R's?

Changed the gas tank 2 weeks ago to stop fuel starve on concrete. Apparently a $4,800 FIA fuel cell is legal in ASP but a fuel tank baffle is not. My fault for not reading the rules better. O'well, it was fun harassing some of the the XP monsters on their full slicks. Nabbed a trophy.

New tank arrived on Wed. Back to ASP...
