Default 16-bit apps on Windows 7?

    (Sorry, nerd alert!)

Fixin' ta roll out some new desktops. I recall with XP having to install/restore support for one of our legacy apps (ancient Filemaker FWIW)... any such issues with Win7?

New hardware will be low-end but probably 64-bit, hopefully with corresponding OS.

    Thanks in advance.

xp mode if you have compatible processors... short answer is load it up on a test machine and find out...

Luckily it's not DOS old! My users are... uh... "not sufficiently advanced".

jeff_man, I hope you meant "has".

    edit: xp mode, eh?

Just googled a bit... looks like we should be GTG.

    This oughta be fun.

So aside from a horsepower disadvantage and accelerated obsolescence, any reasons to avoid 32-bit hardware?

    what is 32bit hardware?

There is hardware out there that doesn't have 64 bit drivers, but that's a manufacturer being lazy problem more than anything.

Old CPUs will be the only real thing that keeps you from running a 64bit OS.

I mean 32-bit workstations, I guess; it's the 64-bit version of Win7 that's at odds with my old software.

Mostly a HP disadvantage due to the limited number of memory addresses in a 32 bit OS.
