Thread: This Lightness Thing...

  1. #1

    Default This Lightness Thing...

As some of you know, I've been obsessed with this adding lightness to the BUR... but of course, the easy way to shed pounds off of my car is to shed them off of myself. Now, before you ask if this is a New Year's Resolution stop... because it's not. My wife and I have been discussing this for sometime... and I've been striving to since I turned 31. Well, now here's an opportunity for you and the rest of America to join me.

    LINKIE

The Discovery Health Channel has put out their challenge again and I'm throwing my hat in the ring. I changed my diet last year and have lost about 11 pounds from cutting out soft drinks and excess sugars and walking on my treadmill at home. It was a good, slow start... but not enough. Now I'm ready to step it up.

I'm 31 years old now... 6'2" tall and 307 pounds. My blood pressure is good as well as my cholesterol. My goal is to lose 100 pounds by my 33rd birthday (Febuary 21, 2006). Not only will this make my life better, but I hope it will improve my autox'ing as well.

Perhaps some of you find yourselves in my shoes.... perhaps not. But if you do need to add some lightness to your chassis, I'll be there cheering you on all the way.

It's a big goal, but I bet he can do it. Besides, 2Bean has a ring to it as well.

2Bean or not 2Bean, that is the question!

I started working on mine a couple of weeks ago....only 2 problems I can see: I don't own a scale and never have so I won't know if I've lost anything and I really don't intend to stop drinking alcohol, so I had to cut back on the eating thing.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...'Wow! What a ride!'

OK... I've decided to add some lightness to myself as well. I started Weight Watchers last week at 233lbs. My goal right now is to get into the 190's, and then see where I need to go from there. The first week of Weight Watchers has gone pretty well, with 4 pounds already gone.

For those of us that enjoy eating out, AppleBees is your friend. They actually have a WW section in the menu with some great food including desserts.

I have lost 80 lbs in the past 20 months (260 -- 180). I'm 6'2". It was not easy. I run more than Forrest Gump, avoid soft drinks and bedtime snacks, and weigh myself every day (that last part is actually important, psychologically). It's something you must stay on top of every day (which isn't to say you can't cheat, but that cheats must be planned). My Miata no doubt loves me for it. My wife, it seems, likes it even more.

Well, I did my initial weigh in this weekend...

309 pounds with a BMI of 39% (which if you know anything of BMI numbers, it's absolutely horrible)

I met with my trainer on afternoon and get to meet with her this week in Lewisville at the Bally's. She's nice and really cute... but I get the feeling she'll be whipping my ass!

I'm keeping a log of everything... I'll update every now and then.
