    Hmmm... Looking at the piece on the right... it has a ceramic thing at the bottom that looks like an old light bulb base. If that's the case then I'd say it's a device for measuring and checking eggs.

    Use the light to transluminate the egg to look for defects then use the scale to weigh it.
