    jrj5121, I think we understand what you did. I think the concern is that you can continue to tighten that until the box/tube collapses.

    I've been doing some reading and I think it's possible to distort the trunk opening if you over-tighten using that method.

    I use lock washers so I do not need to apply 10,000 pounds of force to the nut.

    Unless you were to apply the exact same amount of force everytime, wouldn't it start to flex in?

    I have not noticed any flex, but I have not been keeping a chart of the width, either. I will keep an eye on it. It is just something that I will have to be aware of and work around.
