    Default Saw stopper

I have a couple of nine digited uncles that could have used one of these.

Cant see youtube at work, but if its the saw I think it is, its pretty cool....its also about 100 bucks to replace the parts if the emergency stop gets used.

Holy crap! They said the device is only about $60, and it trashes the blade, but that's worth it for safety's sake...

...and it sure would make for one hell of a party trick.

Never said it wasn't worth while....of course the better option is to operate the tool correctly and don't get your finger near the blade.

Seems like soaking your hands every time you want to use your table saw would get old after awhile.

The mechanism that stops the blade costs around $60 that has to be replaced each time the system is activated... the saw itself that uses them start around $1600 and go up ( LINK for the "cheap" one ) ( LINK for the not so "cheap" one )

So no one else thought he was flipping us all off?

Also, since the blade drops instantly, why does it have to stop so suddenly?

Dropping is secondary. I saw a how it works video once, There is a metal piece that comes forward to instantly stop the blade.
