Thread: Help, need a part WTB

Default Help, need a part WTB

Note: I putting this here, because not everyone looks at the classified section. Moderaters feel free to do whatever you must!

The verdict is in. The harmonic balancer on the back of the crank pulley has allowed movement.

I need to buy this pulley for a 1.6, but it has to be after the short nose crank, so late 91' to 93'.

Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new one???

    Thanks in advance!

No but I have a friend calling MazdaComp to get their price. I hear it's pretty expensive from Mazda, haven't checked yet.

    Would it be this pulley?

Sucks if it is... Must be made of gold.

$80. Sorry... too lazy to convert $ to ounces...

One question, though... is the play in the pulley, or (gulp!) the crankshaft?

It's NOT the crankshaft! The pulley/harmonic balancer, etc. has 214k+ mi. on it. It must have been slipping before it came off my old motor. It's been almost since 60k mi. since I checked my timing.

BTW, Stevan, from Miata Solutions made the first and correct diagnosis. My dad and I were convinced that the woodruff key was missing. Further analysis has show that Stevan/Rogue was right!

Now I need to find one. $80 doesn't scare me, TC where did you find that quote?

That's the Mazdaspeed price. Have you started your application?

Based on prior experience, if you get one of the guys at the Town North counter that gives the 20% discount, you'll probably be pretty close to that. I also noticed there were 139 "in stock."

It looks fine! I'm confident it's the harmonic balancer and that means replace the whole pulley!

I think Ataim has one stashed somewhere. TCB prices apply if you want it. PM him if interested.

    PM sent.

I'm surely a cheap bastard, and I found a free one, but it has 130k on it.

Should I just cough it up and get a new one and piece of mind?

Free of pay, you have to think about that . Your TCB membership may be revoked.
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...
