Default Dallas Area (Frisco) machine Shop?

    91 NA 117,000
Found oil in #3 cylinder. Have replaced valve cover gasket, oil still gets down in there drowing the plug. Burning about a quart every 500 mi.
Want to take the head in for a valve job.

    any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance...

Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).

Okay, any advice on a machine shop closer to Arlington/Mansfield area? I've got to replace the head gasket, thinking of getting the head decked since i'm in there...

John Day is worth the drive. Most Miata folks go to him so he knows the engines well. He knows all engines well actually and rebuilds everything from DOHC 4-bangers to flat head fords. TDR uses John Day for all our motor rebuilds.

There is only one shop I'd use other than John Day and its Endyne...but I don't make that kind of money. TDR and I have a great record of running his engines on the track for many, many hours, then driving to work the next day.

They're not a Miata specialist, but Arlington Automotive Machine has done me right - they freshened up the '99 head I'm running on my '94. They've also done a lot of work for a couple of friends.

I've seen everything from a Pro Stock motor to a Packard straight 8 in the shop - in addition to your garden-variety street stuff.

a couple votes for John Day, huh? where is he located? does he typically turn work around fast? i'm more interested in quality over speed, but i don't want it to sit there for a week either...
arlington automotive may be just the ticket, based on proximity.

what great about John is he seems to be able to balance what you are trying to do to sort out what you need without overdoing it. i could spend a week just hanging out in his shop looking around at the interesting projects. . he is pretty good about delivering on schedule as well.

his shop is on the street behind town north mazda, not hard to get to.
