Default 92 sunburst on CL. Scam?

It reads like a craigslist scam ad, but I'm not sure . . .

Other that the title saying 1991 and description saying 1992, the ad looks fine to me. Sounds like the guy got in way over his head with the turbo install and tuning and is giving up. Unless you know your way around FI miatas and ecu tuning, or plan on putting it back to stock, I would stay away from it.

    Yellow cars are stupid!

Looks like the underhood may be black?? Is it a repainted '91??

That's just oil from the detonated engine.

Black underhood sure is suspicious. If you are interested because of the Sunburst color and want to know if it's original, you can ask the owner for the VIN and contact Mazda or me.

Could that be mariner blue and not black? There was no 91' black, and a 92' black would've had tan interior.

Could be a decent deal if you're good with the megasquirt, but being unfinished I think the price is a little high. how many miles on the turbo?

I'll bet 35 Ben Franklins would take this car home, and you could make back $1.5K easily just selling off the turbo stuff and MS. If the car is sound, it seems like a decent deal, repsray or not.

Also, Suburst cars all had manual windows, IIRC. This one has power. My money's on respray as well.

I don't understand how he has an FM2 setup on it, but the intercooler piping needs to be finished. You don't exactly get rid of the intercooler piping and injector "washers" if you blow the motor...at least I never have.

If anyone ends up picking it up, I should have all the FM intercooler piping should you need it (assuming it's the older kit - pics look like the older one with a different compressor inlet pipe). I'll also trade you a LINK for the MS..you know, to make it a fully legit FM2 setup

    Missing intercooler piping. Respray.

Maybe it's a long shot but it sounds like a front-end collision to me.

    You people crack me up,
Nowhere does it state it is a Sunburst.

It could be a flakey white, painted black, painted yellow.
Could be a BNT with a interior swap.
These cars are 20 years old, how much have you changed in 20 yrs.

If your looking for a real Sunburst, I'd hope you would run the VIN.

I have a 1992 Mazda Miata 1.6 for sale, in USA - Texas.

    Mileage: 110000 miles

    Asking price is $4200

This car is a beast. It is about 225-250hp. I'm selling because basically i've had a HELL OF A TIME dealing with this. This was my 1st time having a turbo car. To make a long story short, I blew the engine trying to tune it and had to replace it. But I replaced a blown 142k miles engine with a stock engine with 110k miles so the engine is actually newer, less miles, and stock.

The car is available to come look at. It needs a tune, fuel injector washers added, intercooler tubing completed that's about it. Anyone that has questions, just let me know. On the price of $4200, it is fairly firm. I'm already losing money on the buy and the repair costs for new engine. It is a very fast miata with ALOT of mods. It just needs the right person who knows and enjoys working on turbo cars. I have title in hand.

This miata is crazy fast and basically I need to get rid of it because it's not the car for me But it would make a good home for someone familiar with miata's and tuning!!

Here is the parts list and I have more pics I can send. I'm in Plano (Dallas tx)

    - Strut tower brace
    - Racing beat rollbar
    - Flying Miata ACT clutch
