    Default Run for Free

I'm looking for volunteers to be expert riders for the Corvair Club private autocross on Saturday October 15th at Lone Star Park. You will be allowed to run your car on course for 6 runs in the exhibition class. In exchange, you will need to be available to ride with and instruct the participants. If you are interested please PM me. We have a limited number of positions available.

    Thanks,
    Andy Cost

Gary K is the only one that has autocrossed a Corvair.

It was before my time but ER and the Corvair club have a lot of history together.
I have seen video of autocrosses in the 1960's and Corvair's were popular.
Did they have seat belts back then?

They are aware that seat belts and helmets are requred. There are a few that run EM and CP at nationals.

Yes I have owned a few 1965 and 1966 Corvairs (one was a Corv8 with a 350 Chevy where the backseat used to be ) and autocrossed them too. I think another, current, autocrosser has owned a Corvair or 2 and ran them also. Many years ago, of course.

    Yes, they had seat belts.

    not quite

I ran my home built mid-engined 327 powered 1966 Corvair in autocross from 1973 to 1980

and drove it on the street

the later cars handled very well but had a 108" wheelbase

Equipe Rapide actually started as the autocross group of the Corvair Club.

Much like the NTAX group grew from the S2000 club autocross bunch.

I've heard stories which involved a tractor, watermelons, and a large amount of vodka. I think he is still on the banned list at Hertz rental car.
