Talk to Gary. We've done a few NC rebuilds. He just bought one with a blown motor to rebuild as well.
A friend of mine's daughter has an '08 PRHT. The motor blew up (threw a rod) at 25K miles. It's at the dealership waiting on their prognosis if it's going to be waranteed or not.
How would you fix it if Mazda doesn't? Rebuild? Drop in another engine?
Any idea of cost for each choice?
What is the car worth as is?
Probably rod #1. Gotta keep the oil level up to full on them. I think you can get a used engine for a grand. I'd be surprised if warranty isn't honored.
Just heard from my friend...Mazda is going to warranty the engine.
Great news!
Buy it! You'll like it. :)

What year did Mazda "improve" the motor on the NC??
if it's his daughters it's a automatic anyways...there would be much work to do to fix that slushbox
did the car get sold? or fixed?
