Did you Seafoam it before going in for inspection?
    M3 is always the answer.

Was it hot before you had it inspected? Take it out, drive the snot out of it and then take it in.

Bump your timing back and go somewhere else...your going to have to pay again anyway.
Like Sammy said, put a bottle of and flog the hell out of it, get it up to temp.

Do the test with the hood open, but with a HC score that high you probably need a cat converter.

It's easy to take off and check out the guts on the inside, when mine went out it was obvious it was time for a new one. Passed every inspection since and that was in 01' or 02'.

There is an inspection station just off I35-E in South Dallas on the feeder road that is very easy to deal with. Its right next to Village Fair, if you need help with google, near the loop 12 exit. Also, he's only $29.

BTW - seafoam will do a lot more for you if you run a can through the intake via a vacum hose. Makes a giant smokey mess, but I have first-hand experience that it drastically improved the idle and response on the 91 I recently fixed-up.

How does someone charge less than what the state sets as the going rate?

    1. is it ok if i use both products, rxp - gas and seafoam - intake manifold?
    2. if i can, which is the intake hose i use to the bottle method on the youtube vid (they had a 1.8 )

Have you checked the timing yet?

My '92 wouldn't pass the NOX part of the test until I bumped the timing back to 10. Never bought it a and sold the car with about 180,000 miles on the OEM - YMMV.

Now part of my annual procedure for inspection is to adjust the timing before I do anything else.
