Thread: Squeaky belt?

    Default Squeaky belt?

I have a squeaky belt on the '93 Accord... is this a sign of:

    • Just a crappy AC belt making noise?
    • Power steering belt doing the same?
    • Power steering pump dying?
I've tried the belt squeal squelch in a can stuff but to no avail...

The belts themselves are fine and don't show any cracking or aging. In fact, they were replaced not long ago. Any ideas?

    Tighten it.

First check for glazing on the inside of the belt. If you have that then replace it.

You can always try squirting a little WD-40 on the pulley... If it quiets down then tighten or replace the belt. If it doesn't then maybe you have a bearing noise.
