Default Thanks Titus -or- I've Got Rotors!

Well, thanks to Titus' kindness I've just scored like new rotors for all four corners...

Tomorrow I'll be picking up some pads...

Nope... I just got back from the gym... have to run over to Gary's and pick up some pads... but I don't have the bleedy thingy to do the brakes with (I picked up another bottle of fluid for the hell of it).

Basically, what I'm fishing for is a tech day... :P

The thought of having a fluid flush day before MSR has crossed my mind.

Well did you install those rotors yet? :P

That's what your car will be doing if you don't get those brakes fixed soon.

Do not try to compress the piston on the rear calipers with a C-clamp or such. Use the allen screw to back them off/down. Lube up the slider pins well when you put it back together.

So... did you get the pads???

    Well, some trouble...

The fronts went on fine as did the rears... however, I can't get the rears to engage nor can I get the parking brake to work. Did I not turn that damn 4mm hex bolt enough??

    This is worrisome...

Did you slowly spin the rear rotor while you are turning the rear brake adjustment screw back in? Have a couple of lug nuts on to hold the rotor in place. Just at the point where the pads contact the rotor, back the adjustment screw off a tad about a 1/3 turn should be just enough.

Then I pump up the brakes and check it all again, nothing worse than the shh shh shh sound on you first test drive because the brakes are dragging.

    Oh yea I almost forgot!

I did one better this morning... I just jacked each rear corner seperately, undid the cover bolt, spun the wheel, and turned the 4mm hex bolt until the wheel stopped. I then backed it off 1/3 turn. Everything's been hunky-dory since!

By the way, I now have great, working brakes!!

Thanks to Titus and shuhart1 for the parts... and thanks to the crew for encouraging me to get off my butt!
