    Default Union Pacific 844

    http://www.up.com/aboutup/special_tr...am/index.shtml
Union Pacific 844 Steam Engine and consist will be in Fort Worth at 3pm on 11/1 departing to the north at 8am 11/2.
It will be heading up thru Saginaw, Boyd, up to a water stop in Bowie.
An incredible site to see full speed live steam, and it moves pretty fast.
Take you camera, and the kids!

Here is where you can track 844 in realtime.

Rogue thanks for the info. Funny thing I just got my hobby room finally. I'm going to start laying train track soon. I'm going to have a train track, slot car track (both digital), and space for my R/C airplanes. I used to have trains when I was a kid, so now I'm doing it again. So now with my hobbies and a hobby Miata I pretty much have all the money pits I need. It's great to be older and finally have a good job.

I got a great book today on the Southern Pacific / Cotton Belt in the Fort Worth, Dallas, Corsicana, Ennis districts. This is the area I'm going to model, but I'm not sure of the time period yet. The book was all '79 to '83. I'd like to get the late 50s / early 60s and the overlap of the diesel / steam era. Passenger trains that weren't Amtrak were popular then too. I could always do the early 80s. I'd have coal trains, auto parts trains, plain freights and Amtrak.

What time do you think you'll go Iain? Might try to coordinate and meet up.

I went today with my wife and baby girl. I didn't find the track I wanted, but I did find a few freight cars that will fill my needs. I'm going to model a pretty specific stretch of rail line and time frame.
