Contest: Guess that gas price!
So, we're already starting to see prices climb and people panic in anticipation of Hurricane Rita. In honor of this media-fueled feeding frenzy of financial fornication, I'm going to stage a little contest.
So I wanna know - how high is it gonna get? What do you think the price of Regular Unleaded gas will be next Thursday afternoon?
Post your guess in this thread. One guess per person. Closest guess to the price I see driving home from work next Thursday afternoon wins... this lovely, never worn, Mazda logo hat!

OK... to make this fair... we need to agree on a "reference station"... we all know that prices vary by as much as 30¢ depending on where you are in the Metromess... Oh yeah, an we're talking regular unleaded... right?

Reference station: Chevron, southwest corner of Davis Boulevard & Rumfield Road in North Richland Hills. For reference to your own neck 'o' the woods, the price for regular unleaded was $2.709 when I drove by this evening on my way home.
