Thread: So who is the cheapest bastard?

Default So who is the cheapest bastard?

Who is the cheapest of the cheap?

    I want specifics.

Give examples. Points deducuted for paying retail for anything!

I think I'm out of the running with my polished Hard Dog alone.

Does not necessarily need to be Miata purchases only. Share your tips on saving

    Examples:

I only buy food items when they are on sale and even bring adds to WalMart to get them to price match competitor's ads.

    or

I made my own rollbar out of lead pipe and epoxy.

BTW, my aunt reuses coffee filters. Now that is cheap!
    ...and across the line.

I've heard that sammm is pretty cheap, as for me, I painted my stock focus rims myself, and I pinstripe my own helmets. My girlfriend buys lunch most of the time, and I know of a few free lunches in Sherman that I use regularly.

Never pay retail for anything. I got my MiniDV camcorder for $179, with stacked rebates (about $150 off).

    That's right!

    Also try

    www.woot.com

They've got one overstock item on sale a day. Some pretty interesting things come up now and then.

Always remember that your someone always wants your junk. Ebay is your friend.

My buddy's dad uses Coke cans and zip ties to patch the holes in his exhaust. It don't get much more TCB than that.

    used RSX sway bar: $50

K&N Intake: Group buy, I think it was 180 or so, still expensive, but I think they retailed for $240
Momo shift knob: $90, Ok, that was way too much to pay, I was young & stupid...
DC Short Shifter: Ebay special, $50
Cheapo harness for autocross: $80, I think.
Total spent on Civic: ~ $1,050

Items yanked before trade in & sold...
Used RSX Sway bar + custom endlinks: +$80
    K&N intake: +$100, I think
    DC Short Shifter: +$50

Total recovered at trade in: $230

    Miata:
Race wheels: Same as Civic, same tires also
FM springs: $150, I think, used off Miata.net
    KYB's: $300 shipped, ebay special
    Momo knob: pulled off Civic.
    Replacement Top: $50
    Replacement radiator: Free

Total spent on Miata to date(not including maintenance): $500, I think...

    Future mods (immediate future)
    Replacement cat back exhaust: $50
Custom cold air intake: ~ $15

Most CDs & DVDs I buy used from online shops for ~ $5
Build my own computers, do all my own labor (w/ help of course)
Buy generic...everything, unless theres a reason not too.
Go to garage sales (more for my wife, but I like them too)
Shop at IKEA, uber cheap & halfway decent...

Thats all I can think of right now. Im learning as I get older...
