Thread: 99 with Bose, want a 6 CD changer in trunk

  1. #1

Cool 99 with Bose, want a 6 CD changer in trunk

Just like a bunch of y'all out there I don't ever lock my doors and if the weather permits I leave the windows down just a little.
I don't want my top slashed if someone wants something inside......

I've already removed the end of the trunk release cable from the catch inside the trunk so I've got a trunk that you MUST have the key to open.

So now I'd like to move all my CD's from my glovebox to a CD changer in the rear.

    Question #1
    1) Do I trash the Bose and go with a whole new system?
    2) Can I add an existing CD changer to my trunk and it work properly with
    the Bose?

    Any recommendations?

If you don't mind tuning it on FM you can easily hook up one of those RF adapted types of CD Changers. Just plug it inline with the car antenna.

Not as crisp & clean as a standard direct plug-in type, but it's much easier to install.

If you can find a Mazda OEM 6 Disk in Dash changer it's a really nice unit, we have one in the 2002 and love it! Never had any problems with theft. YMMV

Ours looks like this one without the tape deck.

I'll second that.... I retro fitted the non-Bose version in to my 92 and it was nearly plug and play. I picked it up on ebay NIB for $160. I believe it was advertised as a Mazda Tribute unit.
