Thread: NACA Vent

    Default NACA Vent

I have a chance to pick up the lid in the attached photo for $85 shipped. Is that NACA vent big enough to get much air in? If I'm to listen to the Aero geeks in land, I am sure they would all tell me that Moti says it is too small to do any good. Any thought on it from the obviously more intelligent group that we have over here? Is it worth it?

Fresh air is always good, small or not. Whether it is worth $85, just depends on your perspective.

That's a good way to put it.

That doesn't look like it's going to flow that much air, nor do you know where the air will be directed once it gets under the hood. Don't forget, there is air entering the engine bay through the radiator inlet and from underneath the car as well, and how these airstreams are directed through the engine bay at speed will have an impact on where the air entering that duct will end up. Will it be directed at your intake, or harmlessly swirl around some other underhood component? No idea.

Personally, for $85 I'd call it bling. Don't expect any measurable or noticeable gains in power.

So it can't hurt, it might help, and it increases my bling rating.. hmmmm Why is it so hard to walk away from things under $100? If it was $100, I would have no problem walking away.

Well perhaps I am an optimist for thinking it might really help or maybe I am just a sucker for uncommon bling, but I got it. Pics once it is in my hands.

Hey Titus why not just put a big Orange hood scoop on the car?

Well, I got it and installed it tonight.. looks pretty nice. The opening is 3/4 inch by 4 inches, which is a little bigger than I thought it would be.

Not yet... I don't expect to notice any difference this time of year, but we will see.

    Very sexah!

Is the lid/duct fiberglass or stamped steel?

The lid seems to be OEM steel... I suspect that the duct is FG.
