My Car & Driver was touting these shots as spy photos of the next generation Miata. Looks like a bad body kit on a stock Miata to me.....What do you kids think??

It's an NC alright - an NC chassis mule wearing stock RX-8 front sheetmetal and stock NB rear sheetmetal that has been "massaged" to fit. The next Miata ain't gonna look nothing like it.
I'm sure it's a mule... chassis and moter with a bunch of random body parts tacked on. But it wouldn't surprise me to see the NC resemble the RX8, particularly in the nose. It would be one of those "family resemblance" things that car manufactures seem to favor.
I'm not saying I'd like to see that resemblance, but it wouldn't surprise me...
If its a Mule, then it shouldn't be able to reproduce.

Supposedly Mazda is not planning on introducing much "family resemblance" in the next miata, as they recognize that the Miata has a strong heritage and following that is completely separate from the fact that it is a Mazda.
However, who knows? There were plenty of people (myself included) who never believed there would be a factory turbocharged NB. Look how right we were.
