Default SCCA National Tour - Houston, 4/21-4/23

    It's that time again!!

Walnut Ridge was a lot of fun, and Houston ought to be even better! Not only do we have courses designed by one of the best in the sport (Roger "The Real" Johnson), but we have decent hotels, a great event site, gambling, and you don't have to drive thirty miles to buy beer!

    Who's going?

(FYI, While both of the event hotels claim to be full if you call them, I managed to find a room at the Texas City Fairfield Inn through Orbitz.)

My plans keep changing and I'm not going to be able to make it. I was really looking forward to Houston. Well, there's always next year.

    Good luck!

Here is a LINK to more information on the event!

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I'm darn close.

Need to sharpen my Popsicle stick before this event!

Can you science that down a little bit for the audience?

I'll be there. The wife and I will be at the Fairfield Inn.

As I came off the course on Sunday, John Williams told me that I was the fastest Escort at the event. I've got to try for that honor again at Houston.

I now have a couple of 1 Gig cards for the camera, so I can take a LOT of photos at Houston.

The Old Bull and I will be there. Picking up a new set of lightweight wheels and V710's on the way there... We'll need all the help we can get against young Mr. Hedderick...

    Good luck old timers!

I'll be there as well. Hoping to stick it to Sue and Stan and anyone else that shows up.

That's where we're at. Wanna do the "CR-V as Team Cheap Bastard support vehicle" thing again?

As far as I know. I'll call him tonight and remind him to get his a$$ in gear.

    Unhappy

Not me I'm saving myself for the Pro-Solo so I can get squashed like a bug closer to home
What's left of a '96 Miata with stock clutch.
My car exceeds my driving ability. That's the only possible explanation.

Thank you. I was expecting "Why Sparky, you had the only Escort there!"

I have spent my money on schools and seat time , not the car. I already have 50 runs on my V710's. Half of those in one day with Andy at the Evo challenge at Mineral Wells and 12 runs at the cone clinic at Walnut Ridge.

Wow. I just looked at the entry list for G stock. This one is going to be easier than Walnut Ridge. There are girls in the class.

Yea, right! The girls... Beth McClure-Strelnieks, 6 times national champion and Su Brude 2 times national champion.

If I can't beat the boys, I am in trouble.

The boys....Stan Whitney, 5 times national champ; Robert Carpenter, 3 times national champ; G.H. Sharp, 2 times national champ; Greg Reno, National Tour winner and to register later, Jeremy Foley, no less than three national tour trophies.

Anyone have any golf clubs for sale?

Just remember, Doug - the best way to get faster is to race against people who are faster than you. You're gonna be a lot faster at the end of the weekend!

That's a very good point Iain. I think it's one of the great things about national events.

Doug, I look forward to seeing you down there...I'm off to register. FYI, Greg Reno has trophied at nationals, 5th in HS I believe. And G.H. is probably one of the best drivers in the country. So you're right, we have a tough group ahead of us.
