Default Eradiction of Front License Plate Requirement in Texas

Hi everyone. Last night at our club meeting (Bluebonnet Miata San Antonio), a flyer was handed out. There is a petition out in hopes of finally getting the law passed to remove the front license plate in Texas. So far there are 14,025 signatures on the petition. This may or may not work, but I figured it is worth a try. If you would like to legally get rid of your front license plate click here to sign the petition.

    Thanks,
    Virginia

P.S. I will not drive with a front license plate whether this passes or not.

It appears as though you have already signed this petition. Each person may only sign a particular petition one time. Your signature number is 3250.

    Me too.
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

Just joking, but seriously... I have been driving without a front plate in 2 states where this law exists for most of the last 15 years, and I have never been pulled over for it. The only time I have had a front plate is when I was having to drive into downtown San Franscico each week for business, and I had heard an Urban Legend that SFPD loved to inforce the law.

Not a chance this year... Next year maybe. It's a waste of breath to try to get any legislation done in Texas this year.

Travel outside the metroplex more often and you will get pulled over for not running a front plate, my 3 experiences (in 4 years) were all by the DPS in the middle of nowhere. The city of Denton started pulling people over for it too, so I got the front plate, but it's a STIFFY off to the side

I have been pulled over for it, along with a couple other friends. I guess you just have to get the wrong cop who doesn't have anything better to do at the time.

The bald spot tends to get me out of a lot of frivolous pull-overs. I can't tell you how often I see a cop start to tail me and then turn off or pass me as soon as they get close enough to realize I am not some punk kid.

    = Titus

I've picked up a few of the no front plate tickets as an added "bonus" for tickets I was already getting!

If you weren't such a prick to the you wouldn't get doubled up. I am a strong believer that most cops work off of a Sir scale (weather they realize it or not). No sirs... its time to go over this car to find everything ticketable. A couple sirs and you won't get doubled up. Every 5 sirs are good for 5 mph off of the ticket. Etc.

It makes me imagine our various Moderators getting pulled over:

Officer: Are you aware that you were speeding back there?

POS Racer: Yeah.. there was this prick in a black and white domestic that wouldn't get off of my ass.

Officer: Are you aware that you were speeding back there?

Altiain: Actually, if you consider the drag coefficient of my CRV cross referenced to the 14 mph NE wind, you would see that i was actually not speeding.

Bean: Meh. What can I say.

Officer: Strangest thing... Every time I call into dispatch, it seems like I hear an echo.

TailChaser: I have no idea what your talking about.

TailChaser's car: All units in the vicinity of Preston and Park, we have an 11-26 in the Chucky Cheese parking lot.
    TailChaser: Look... a jaywalker.
